The imam of Rome's Great Mosque said
Wednesday that he would attend Pope Francis's funeral in St
Peter's Saturday saying the late Argentine pontiff had been his
"brother".
"I confirm my participation in the funeral of Pope Francis. It
is our desire to be there and we will certainly be there", said
Nader Akkad.
"For me he was a friend and a brother. For all of us he meant a
lot. Pope Francis is 'our' Pope. He was able to conquer our
hearts", said the imam.
