The Italian Embassy in Ukraine took part, in the presence of President Volodymyr Zelensky and the diplomatic corps, in the commemoration of the victims of the recent Russian attack on Kiev, which left 12 citizens dead and 87 wounded. Floral tributes were laid at the site of the Russian ballistic missile impact, in a residential neighbourhood in the east of the capital.
"We join the condolences of the international community and continue to strongly condemn Moscow's armed aggression," said Ambassador Carlo Formosa. "In the constant search for peace, it is worth remembering that tragedies like this occur regularly, in all Ukrainian cities, with a frequency that risks habituating international public opinion.
Ukraine is a country under aggression, fighting for its independence and freedom. It is particularly important to emphasise this today, the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Italy, when we celebrate the conquest of democratic values, which were then poured into the Constitution of the Republic,' the Ambassador added.
